🎮 The Role: Level Designer
This is a 100% remote, full-time gig. We’re looking for a Level Designer who understands that in a massive sandbox game, the environment itself is the teacher. You’ll be crafting spaces that subtly guide the player, introducing them to complex city simulation and transport mechanics without ever holding their hand. You’ll be working directly with the founder to bring our visions to life. It’s a role that requires a pure passion for spatial storytelling, organic learning, and the creativity to tackle tricky design challenges head-on.
🎲 What you’ll be doing
- Crafting expansive, open-ended sandbox environments that teach players our core mechanics through exploration rather than heavy-handed tutorials.
- Designing subtle progression systems, using spatial layout, visual language, and environmental cues to naturally guide player decisions.
- Collaborating 1-on-1 with our founder to ensure the physical world design perfectly supports the underlying simulation logic and overarching game design.
🕹️ What You Bring to the Table
- The Basics: You have solid, hands-on experience designing levels or environments, ideally for sandbox, simulation, or open-world games.
- The Invisible Teacher:Â You know how to use lighting, geometry, and affordances to subtly onboard players, ensuring they feel a constant, rewarding sense of progression as they uncover new layers of the sandbox.
- Love for City-builders: You know your way around game design principles and know exactly how to implement engaging, fun player experiences.
- Team Vibes: You’re a strong communicator who thrives when collaborating in a remote team environment.
- The Drive: You have a genuine passion for building Triple-I games.
